If you've spent much time around Panama City Beach, you've probably heard of Schooners, also known as "The Last Local Beach Club." It's been one of my favorite places for years, and honestly, what's not to love about eating right on the beach? I grew up around these beautiful beaches, and I still never get tired of looking out at that emerald-green water. There's just something about sitting outside with the Gulf breeze blowing, watching the waves roll in, and enjoying a good meal.
Now, let's talk about the food, because Schooners definitely doesn't disappoint!
First of all, have you seen the size of their burger? That thing is HUGE! I'm talking about a burger that you better bring your appetite for! And it's not just big, it's delicious! Honestly, there's nothing worse than ordering a big burger that looks impressive but doesn't taste like much. That's certainly not the case here. If burgers aren't your thing, they've got some wonderful seafood, too. There's just something about enjoying fresh seafood while you're sitting right next to the Gulf. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the view certainly doesn't hurt!
One of the things I really love about Schooners is how relaxed it is. You don't have to get dressed up to enjoy a nice meal. You're at the beach! Flip-flops, shorts, and bathing suits fit right in. That's part of what makes it such a great place to stop after spending the day enjoying our beautiful coastline.
They also have live music, and depending on when you visit, you might catch a local band playing. There's nothing quite like listening to music with the sound of the waves in the background. And if you feel like getting up and dancing a little, even better!
As locals, I think sometimes we forget just how lucky we are to live in an area that people travel from all over the country to visit. We have these beautiful beaches, wonderful restaurants, and places like Schooners practically in our backyard.
Whether you're spending the day at the beach with the kids, meeting up with friends, or just looking for somewhere to grab a really good burger, Schooners is definitely worth a visit.
And seriously, go hungry if you're ordering that burger!
