The Chipley Thunder Cubs Youth Flag Football League is getting ready to hit the field, bringing another opportunity for local kids to get involved, stay active, make friends, and be part of something positive right here in our community.
And while a new sports program is exciting all on its own, what really caught my attention is the heart behind this one.
The Thunder Cubs will be led by Michael King, a local parent who understands that youth sports should be about much more than what happens on the field. Michael and his wife, Hannah, are raising their children, MaKayla and Keaton, here in the community, so investing in the next generation is personal for their family too. As parents, they know our kids not only need opportunities, but they also need people who will show up for them. They need coaches and mentors who will encourage them, challenge them, teach them to work hard, and remind them that character matters just as much as the final score.
That is something the Thunder Cubs are taking seriously. Yes, kids will learn football. They will compete, improve their skills, and hopefully have a whole lot of fun along the way. More importantly they will learn teamwork, discipline, confidence, leadership, sportsmanship, and how to keep going when things get hard. Those lessons can stay with a child long after the season ends. Our kids deserve more places where they can belong, grow, and have positive adults in their corner. A program that sees the child beyond the athlete is something worth getting excited about.
The Chipley Thunder Cubs Youth Flag Football League is coming to Chipley, and whether your child is picking up a football for the very first time or already loves the game, this will be another opportunity for local families to get involved in something new.
Registration opens November 1, 2026.
More information about ages, registration, and the upcoming season will be announced soon.
